Podcast: Jeremy McGrath in Sydney post SuperX

As the PR/Media rep for Woodstock Honda Thor Racing, I had the opposrtunity to not only send out press releases on behalf of the team, but I get to interview the riders after the races.

At the Sydney SuperX held at Parramatta Stadium,it was my pleasure to interview “The King” of SuperX, 37 yr old “semi retired” Jeremy McGrath. Not only a legend of the sport, but an affable, funny and utterly likeable bloke. Today’s vodcast features my interview with Jeremy in teh Woodstock truck after his brilliant (and clever) second place.

AS a fellow 37 yr old, I say this: Jeremy, keep on keepin’ on!

Triple J’s response

The Response:
Thank you for your email about Remembrance Day.

triple j is a national network and broadcasts across five different time zones. Due to this it is technically impossible for a national network like triple j to hold one minute’s silence across Australia. In addition to this if triple j did have a minute silence the emergency tape would cut in automatically and the silence would end.

triple j has in the past asked presenters to acknowledge Remembrance Day by verbally asking listeners to turn down their radio’s as a mark of respect. This year presenter Zan Rowe did so by reminding people it was a day that we pause to remember those who have fallen in war. She advised listeners that we are a national network, working in a lot of different time zones and that we could not have a minute’s silence. Zan then went on to say for those that wished to respect the minute’s silence to turn down their radio now at the top of the hour.

I hope this allays your concerns.

Sincerely,
triple j

Triple J- Remembrance day- WTF is that anyway?

Complaint sent to Triple J today:

I am very disapponted that Triple J decided not to delay the news by a minute and have the traditional Remembrance Day minute silence. Commercial radio (in Melbourne) DID observe the minute.

I understand the news is on relay/whatever, but you clearly have the technology to get around this.

In an era when the last WW1 diggers are gone and the WW2 diggers diminish, Triple J could stand as a station that, like other ABC stations, ensures “Lest We Forget” actually stands for something.

Launching into the news at 11am was poor show.

Podcast: Australian Superbikes at MotoGP round interviews.

Here’s a number of interviews I recorded – ostensibly for my press releases, but I thought they may be of interest to podcast listeners..
